Are we required to purchase or rent our own textbook(s) each term?

Yes, students are responsible for acquiring their own books for every course.

Where can I find a list of my required Textbooks?

Use the Textbook List found on CIAT's website to know well in advance which books will be needed in future terms. Student Services will notify you 2-3 weeks in advance of your upcoming class of which textbook(s) will be needed for that specific class.  Once on our Textbook List, follow the steps below to locate your book titles:

  1. Select the degree or certification program you are enrolled in
  2. Search for your upcoming class in that track
  3. Locate the ISBN number associated with the textbook(s) for your upcoming class.  Then locate how you can either rent or purchase the textbook before the new term begins.

Where can I purchase or rent textbooks?

VitalSource and Amazon are two popular sources to start your search for textbooks; however, more options are available online.

We have found Better World Books to be a great resource, and books purchased through this site help the environment and raise funds for libraries and literacy!

ThriftBooks is another source for textbooks - just be sure you check the edition before purchasing.

Textbooks purchased for your courses are often used by students beyond completion of the course as reference guides for coding practice or certification exam preparation. eBooks are another great option as they provide instant access to ensure that you always have a resource ready on the first day of each class.
