Why is attendance important?

Attendance monitoring is required by the Department of Education and is a requirement of military funding/financial aid.

What is the required attendance percentage?

Students are required to meet 80% or higher in attendance throughout their program to meet graduation eligibility requirements. You should miss no more than 2 attendance checkpoints during a five-week term.

How is attendance taken?

Your attendance is taken through any qualifying attendance checkpoints - make sure you are posting these on time to stay within your attendance requirement! These are due by Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11:59 pm each week.

Attendance credit can only be earned for the active week of the term (Monday - Sunday). You cannot complete attendance for future weeks or previous weeks of the term.

Whether you get the attendance right or wrong, you’ll still receive attendance for completion of the attendance checkpoints.

Reminder: Students may not exceed 14 days of consecutive non-attendance.

What are qualifying attendance checkpoints?

  • Assignments

  • Quizzes
  • Exercises
  • Exams
  • Discussion posts or replies
  • Project submissions
  • Approved make-up assignments

What does NOT qualify as an attendance checkpoint?

  • Logging into an online course, or your student portal, without engaging in one or more course activities.

  • Logging in to, or watching, a live lecture, without engaging in one or more course activities.
  • Passive homework such as reading or self-study.
